Employee Benefits
Employee Benefits for 5-20 Employees
Five to twenty employees is where group benefits start doing serious work for a business: recruiting, retention, and a team that is not quietly job-hunting over a dental plan. Most Canadian carriers compete for groups this size, and we make them compete for yours.

Watch
At This Size
What a plan typically includes at this size
Health and dental
The core of every plan: prescription drugs, dental, paramedical practitioners, and vision care, with limits set to your budget.
Life and disability
Group life insurance and long term disability protect your people and their families if the worst happens.
Health care spending accounts
A flexible top-up many employers add so employees can spend where they actually need it.
Employee assistance programs
Confidential counselling and support services that cost little and get used more than most employers expect.
Good To Know
Where the value shows up
At this size your plan is usually fully insured and pooled or partially experience-rated, so renewals are steadier than owners fear. The bigger lever is design: the right drug plan structure, sensible paramedical limits, and cost-sharing that keeps the plan sustainable. We review the plan with you every year and re-shop it when the numbers stop making sense. One accounting firm we work with saved about $10,000 a month after a review found they were paying for a plan design their team did not match.

When do we qualify for a group plan?
Most carriers want at least three full-time employees, so a team of five to twenty qualifies comfortably. Part-time staff can sometimes be included depending on hours worked.
Can we share the cost with employees?
Yes, cost-sharing is normal and often wise. Employees who contribute tend to value the plan more, and sharing keeps the plan affordable as it grows. We will model the split with you.
When should we switch brokers or re-shop?
If your renewal arrives with a big increase and no explanation, or your broker only appears at renewal, that is the moment. A second set of eyes on the plan costs you nothing and can change the numbers significantly.
