Employee Benefits

Employee Benefits for 2-5 Employees

Yes, a business with two to five people can have real benefits. The options look different from a fifty-person plan, and some carriers will not quote a group this small, but the ones that do offer genuinely useful coverage. We help very small businesses across Canada find the right fit without overbuying.

At This Size

What a plan can include at this size

Health and dental coverage

Prescription drugs, dental care, paramedical services, and vision, through small-group plans built for micro teams.

Health care spending accounts

A flexible option that works at any size, including one-person corporations. The business sets the amount and claims are tax-effective.

Life and disability coverage

Basic life insurance and income protection for the people the business cannot run without, often the owners themselves.

Benefits for one

Owner-only structures for incorporated professionals who have no staff yet but still need coverage.

Good To Know

Small group, honest expectations

Most traditional group plans need at least three employees, and pricing at this size is pooled, which means your rates reflect the carrier’s whole small-group pool rather than just your team’s claims. That is often a good thing: one large claim does not land on your renewal alone. If a traditional plan does not fit, a health care spending account or a benefits-for-one structure usually will.

FAQ

Questions employers ask us

Straight answers, no jargon.

We only have two people. Can we still get benefits?

Usually, yes. Some routes need three or more lives, but spending account structures and certain small-group products work with one or two. We will show you which doors are open at your exact size.

Is a health care spending account real insurance?

It is a funding arrangement rather than insurance: the business reimburses eligible medical expenses up to a set amount. Paired with catastrophic drug and travel coverage, it is a practical plan for very small teams.

What does it cost?

Spending accounts cost what you choose to fund, plus an administration fee. Small-group plans are priced per employee. Either way, we quote it in plain numbers before you decide.
