Your income is your biggest asset
If you are a professional or a business owner, your ability to earn is the foundation everything else is built on. Disability insurance replaces part of your income if an illness or injury keeps you from working. I help professionals and business owners put the right coverage in place, so a health event does not turn into a financial crisis.
Own-occupation vs any-occupation
The definition of disability in your policy determines when it pays. This is the most important wording to understand.
Own-occupation means the policy pays if you cannot do your own job, even if you could work in a different field. This is the definition most professionals and specialists want.
Any-occupation means the policy pays only if you cannot do any job you are reasonably suited for. It costs less, but it is harder to claim on.
I make sure you know which definition you are buying and what it means in practice before you sign anything.
Riders that are worth a look
Riders let you shape the policy around your life. The ones I discuss most often are cost-of-living adjustments, future insurability (increase coverage later without new medicals), partial or residual disability, and return of premium. I will tell you which ones fit your situation and which ones you can skip.
The incorporated professional angle
If you bill through a corporation, how the policy is owned and how premiums are paid affects the tax treatment. I walk you through corporate-owned versus personally-owned structures and work alongside your accountant so the setup fits your overall plan.
How it works
1. Book a free consultation. We talk through your income, your occupation, and what coverage you already have.
2. I shop the market. I compare options across 30+ carriers and explain the trade-offs in plain English.
3. You decide. I handle the application and underwriting, and I stay in your corner if you ever need to claim.
My consultations and ongoing service are free. I’m compensated by the carriers through the products I place, so my advice costs you nothing out of pocket.
If you ever need to make a claim, I help you through it. That’s part of what you get when you work with me.
